The
RMG (Ready Made Garments) is the most important GDP contributor in the economy and
is the largest manufacturing sector of Bangladesh. At present the annual exporting
goods worth of more than 30 billion US$ which will be 50 billion US$ in the
2021 as per expected. The BGMEA (Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters
Association) is the trade associations in Bangladesh representing the RMG
industry, particularly the woven garments, knitwear and sweater sub-sectors.
In
the year 1980 the BGMEA started its journey with only 12 members and now it has
around 4300 member factories across the country. Around 40% of BGMEA member
factories are knitwear and sweater manufactures, and the rest 60% are woven
garment manufactures. BGMEA member factories account for 100% woven garment
exports of the country and more than 95% of sweater exports, while around half
of the light knitwear exports are made by them.
Comilla
is a growing economic hub and an exclusive business zone in the country. At
present there are only few Garments factories in Comilla district. Most of the Readymade Garments factories are located in Comilla EPZ. Below is
