Foreign Remittance Earning | Cumilla District is top of Bangladesh



Cumilla district has become topped in the list of foreign remittance earners across the country. The enlightenment of the country's economy is called foreign remittance. The expatriates of the Comilla district have been top for the fourth consecutive year for achieve this foreign remittance earnings. The information was presented at the monthly development coordination meeting of Comilla District Commissioner's Office on January 2019.


The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Fazle Mir. In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner of Cumilla district congratulated the expatriates of the district for earning this honor. In the meeting, it was reported that Comilla district is at the top in achieving remittance across the country. Currently about eight lac people of this district are living legally in various countries across the Globe. Homna upazila is at the top of all the upazilas in Cumilla district based on numbers. Maximum numbers of expatriate from Homna upazila are working abroad.



In the meeting, the District Commissioner, Abul Fazle Mir said, "We are the servants of the Country. Our task will be to ensure 100 percent transparency in fulfilling the duties for the people of the country, by providing public services to their doorsteps by ensuring accountability. And in the New Year this is what the officials and employees of the country will serve”.

In the meeting the Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun spoke about the overall law and order situation of the district. Other speakers in the meeting were District’s Civil Surgeon Dr. Majibur Rahman, Deputy Director of Comilla Agricultural Extension Dilip Kumar Adhikari, Local Government Division Comilla Zone Deputy Director Mohammad Azizur Rahman, Chairman of Adarsh ​​Sadar Upazila Parishad Advocate Aminul Islam Tutul, Comilla City Corporation Secretary Helal Uddin.


The Expatriates who are living and working abroad, involved in the economic development of Bangladesh. The people of 10 districts of the country from all the 64 districts spend more exile. Based on the information’s of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Training Bureau of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, around 57,74,540 Bangladeshi nationals are staying abroad from the year 2005 to 2015.


1st - Comilla:
Cumilla district is at top of the list, total 6,19,138 people from Cumilla are living abroad from this district.

2nd – Chittagong:
Chittagong district is in the second place of the top ten lists. There are 5,41,709 people living in different countries in the world from this district.

3rd – Brahmanbaria:
B. Baria is in the third place of the top 10 lists. From this district 2,95,381 people went abroad.

4th – Tangail:
Tangail district is in the fourth place on the list. 2,90,717 people living abroad from this district and earning foreign remittance.

5th – Dhaka:
Dhaka district has the fifth position in the list among top 10 districts where the number of NRB is 2,53,734 from Dhaka.


6th – Chandpur:
Chandpur district has the sixth place in the list of exile. Around 2,35,334 people from this district have found employment in different countries across the world.

7th – Noakhali:
Noakhali district is in seventh place among 10 districts where the number of NRB is 2,27,343 who are living and working hard for the country.

8th – Munshiganj:
Munshiganj is at the eighth position among the list. Around 1,73 477 people from this district are living abroad.

9th – Narsingdi:
Narsingdi is the ninth district of the list. Around 1,59,384 people from this district are living and working abroad.

10th – Feni:
Feni district is at the 10th place in the top ten lists. 1,56,199 people from Feni district living and working abroad.

The rest expatriates are from the rest 54 districts of the country.

Batakandi | Machimpur | Asmania | Raipur road



Distance between Batakandi to Raipur bus stand in Dhaka to Chittagong highway N1 is around 15 Kilometers via Machimpur, Asmania. The road is beautiful, no traffic jam. Its a direct road constructed recently under special government project. Starting from Batakandi to Akalia to Pangashia to Machimpur to Kadamtali to Asmania to Kushiara to Raipur bus stand.

The natural scene beside this road is really beautiful in both summer and winter season. The images below were taken different times while on journey.

Chandina Upazila Comilla | Pics Collection 1



There is a legend that Mughal Sobedar, Mirza Hossain Ali Khan built a palace in the present place of upazila headquarters of Chandina upazila in Comilla district. He set up a big lamp on a high pillar in front of the palace for fear of tigers. The lamp illuminated the entire area with bright light and local people called the area as Chandi meaning a place of light of the moon. Subsequently the place where the upazila headquarters is located became known as Chandina with some phonetic corruption of the previous name Chandi. The upazila came into existence as a Thana in 1876.


As per the information’s provided in the Wikipedia: Chandina township is a class B municipality, which is located at the extreme north of the upazilla by the Dhaka - Chittagong Highway. The upazila occupies an area of 201.01 sq. km. or 77.61 sq. mile. The upazila is bounded on the north by Muradnagar and Dabidwar upazilas, on the east by Burichang, Comilla sadar and Barura upazilas, on the south by Kachua upazila of Chandpur dustrict and on the west by Daudkandi upazila. The population of the Upazila as per the National Census-2011 of the Bangladesh Government is 3,50,273 and was 3,06,054 in 2001. At present there are 1 Pouroshova, 13 Union Parishads, 121 Mauzas and 223 Villages in Chandina upazila.

Titas Upazila Comilla | Image Collection 1



The Titas upazila under Comilla district came into existence as an Upazila in 2004. Formerly the most part of the upazila was included in Daudkandi upazila. The upazila is situated on the bank of the River Titas, so it is generally believed that the upazila might have derived its name from the name of the River Titas. The upazila has an area of 109.30 sq. km or 42.20 sq. mile. It is located between 23°25' and 23°39' north latitudes and between 90°31' and 90°53' east longitudes. The upazila is bounded on the north by Homna upazila, on the east by Muradnagar upazila, on the south by Daudkandi upazila and on the west by another newly derived Meghna upazila.


As per the National Census of the Bangladesh Government – 2011 the total population of Titas upazila is 1,84,617 from which Male is 87,100 and Female is 97,517. There are total 9 (nine) Union Parishad, 138 Villages in the upazila and total 61 Mouzas.
