Uttara Bank Limited is one of the ancient and bank in of Bangladesh. The bank started its banking functions officially as a public bank with only four branches in January 1965 with the name of Eastern Banking Corporation and before the Liberation war the number of branches reached 60. The bank performed the treasury function of East Bengal during the Non-Cooperation movement in 1971. In March 1972 the bank has renamed as Uttara Bank and resumed its banking operation.

After privatization in June 1983 the bank renamed as Uttara Bank Limited and became the largest private bank in the country. The bank performed special role in the field of inward foreign remittances, loans for small and medium industries, traders, farmers etc. The bank has facilities of Internet banking, SME banking and a well number of own ATMs booth in the country.

Bangladesh Development Bank Limited - BDBL

BDBL – Bangladesh Development Bank Limited is another public bank in the country. This bank has lowest number of branch through the whole country. The bank was incorporated in November 2009 as a public limited company under the Companies Act, 1994 and formally embarked its journey on January 2010.
