one might experience within a few hours or days after breathing polluted air.

Environment Department,
Air pollution
is caused due to presence of carbon dioxide, lead, nitrogen oxide and other
protruding particles in the air. Air in Savar area is very much polluted among
all other areas in capital city Dhaka. Air Quality Index (air quality) for
Dhaka city 115, but in Savar it is 135. Rangpur, a city that has more air
pollutants than Dhaka, the air pollutant parameter in the city is 128.
In Bangladesh
the AQI is based on 5 criteria pollutants; Particulate Matter (PM10 and PM2.5),
NO2, CO, SO2 and Ozone (O3). The Department of Environment (DoE) has also set
national ambient air quality standards for these pollutants. These standards
aim to protect against adverse human health impacts.
Considering
the health concerns, the of air quality index is:
- Air quality is 0 to 50 means Good Quality.
- Between 51 and 100 means Medium Quality.
- Between 101 to 150 means Caution or Warning.
