Established
in the year 1837, Cumilla Zilla School is one of the oldest, Prestigious,
Famous schools in the Cumilla district and in the whole country. It’s a boy’s
school, situated on total 5.69 acres of land. In 20th July 1937 the famous
Englishman Henry George Leicester founded the school and he was the first Head Teacher
of the school. The School is located in the center of the Comilla City near
Kandirpar area. Comilla is called an education hub and a growing economic hub
of Bangladesh.
In
the starting year 1837 there was only 37 students in the school and at present
there are more than 2000 students are studying. The school was set up by the
government of British India for teaching English literature and science. From
1857 the school was running under Kolkata University. In the year 1850 the
school academic buildings was expanded and more facilities were created to make
it a full-fledged high school.
After
the liberation war 1971 the Cumilla Zilla School entered into a new era. In
1991 morning and day shift started. The school provides classes in two shifts, Morning
and Day. Every year the school gets on the top based on the result of JSC and
HSC. Usually students are admitted in class Five and Six. Admission can be
considered in other classes if a vacancy is available or if someone is
transferred from some other government school. The admission test is usually
taken in the first week of January.
