First Fly Dining Restaurant of the Country in Cox's Bazar

A flying restaurant called 'Fly Dining' has started its journey at Sugandha Point on Cox's Bazar sea beach. Cox's Bazar Municipality Mayor Mujibur Rahman inaugurated the restaurant on Tuesday (30 November 2021) evening at Sugandha Point on the beach. Anyone can sit at the table while flying and enjoy a variety of delicacies.

Additional DIG (Chittagong Range) Mr. Muslim Uddin spoke at the opening ceremony. Cox's Bazar Tourist Police (SP) Zillur Rahman and Nawab Fayez Abu Bakkar Khan, the head of Fly Dining Restaurant were also present on the occasion. Ensuring complete safety with the help of state-of-the-art machine cranes, the restaurant will have food and drink facilities 160 feet above the surface of the beach. In this, tourists will get a thrilling feeling of being entertained sitting in the kingdom of clouds. Such an exception in the modern world will change the nature of tourism in Cox's Bazar. A new dimension has been started in the sand dunes of the beach. Your first digital flywheel has been created by international travel company ”Your Travels Limited”.

On the ground, the Fly Dining Restaurant and Kitchen has been set up on the plot next to Hotel Sea Princess in Sugandha Point, with ample seating. A crane comes to sit in the empty space on the west side of the restaurant. In a special reading, chairs, tables and umbrellas with a capacity of 20 people have been kept open all around with a kind of roof. A special crane made of a combination of aluminum and steel is attached to the head of the crane in the middle and around the deck. Anyone who wants to order the food of their choice in the kitchen on the ground can take advantage of the service of 'flying desk'.

According to the organizers, the 20-person 'Fly Dining' restaurant will serve food to shoppers as it rises 160 feet above the ground to the beach sky. At this time you can enjoy the view of the beach and the surroundings from the sky. It will cost a minimum of Tk 4,000 to Tk 8,500 per person (including food). The duration of the package is one to one and a half hours including the time of ascent, deviation and position and descent. The country's famous chef Tony Khan is managing the entertainment and food with his family.

Tourists, who enjoyed the food in the sky on the opening day, said that this is a different feeling in different environment. The seat belt is fastened to the deck chair like an airplane. This Bangladeshi Nika / Neeka have recently won the Miss International Crown in the Miss Russia beauty pageant in Russia. Her full name is Sabikunnahar Nika / Neeka. She is 21, from Shankuchail village in Burichang upazila of Comilla district. She passed SSC from Dhaka Cantonment Girls Public School and College in 2016 and HSC from Uttara Milestone School and College in 2018. Later she applied for online admission to Rostov State Medical University.

 

Nika / Neeka have left her mark in various fields since his childhood. She was admitted to Rostov State Medical University in 2018. He is currently a fourth year medical student at the university. Besides, by capitalizing on her talent and thinking, she is now stepping into the modeling world of Russia. She thinks that real success is achieved only when Honesty, Hard work and Talent come together at one point. Sabikaunnahar Nika told that being a good doctor personally is also the goal of my life. In that case I want to see myself as a gynecologist or cardiologist. Now that I have the opportunity to work in modeling internationally, I will always try to represent my country through good work.

 

The national anthem of Bangladesh was played in the background while Sabikunnahar was wearing the crown. She first took part in the Rostov Beauty and Rostov photo shoot in 2020/2021 and later became Miss International by participating in Miss Russia. This is the first time in the history of Russia that a foreigner has won the Miss International crown as a Bangladeshi from Asia.

 

Sabikaunnahar Nika is the only child of her parents. His father Abul Kalam Azad is a non-commissioned officer in the Bangladesh Army currently serving in Kuwait. His mother Mrs. Shahnewaz Chowdhury is a housewife.

 

Sabikaunnahar thinks that humanity and self-confidence are beauty as well as good behavior with people. Neeka is currently working with various fashion organizations. Estate Fashion Week Winter Season is going to be held in Moscow next month. Sabikaunnahar Nika is going to participate there too. Apart from this, the brand ambassador of the famous modeling agency 'ImageElite' of Russia is this accomplished child of Shankuchail village of Burichang upazila of Comilla district.

Nika said that the modeling world of Russia is very big. Everyone here is much more professional. There is very little room for emotion here. Suppose someone's height is low then he will not get a job under any circumstances. In fact I mean that there is no such thing as kinship here. Everyone is very professional here. One of Russia's national daily has published a big feature about Sabikunnahar Nika. In the future she said, I want to become a good doctor and devote myself to serving the people of the country. At the same time, I want to highlight the name of Bangladesh in the international arena in modeling at a unique height. Dream that one day every person in the world will be well treated. There will be Railway Line from Narayanganj to Cumilla

Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said the government has plans to build a railway line from Narayanganj to Cumilla. The minister said, “I have been in charge of the ministry for the last three years. But no one from Comilla raised the issue of a railway line from Narayanganj to Comilla. The Prime Minister believes in development. If the people of Comilla wanted, the Narayanganj - Comilla railway line would have been built already. This would have reduced the distance of Dhaka - Chittagong railway by about 70 km”. He said that the people of Comilla are very lucky. Huge number of expatriates from Cumilla area lives all over the world. If the people want, they can unite and play a role in the development of the Comilla zone. 

He was speaking at the inaugural function of the 24-km long dual gauge Comilla - Laksham section between the Akhaura - Laksam 72-km double-line dual gauge rail line on 25 September. The dual gauge was inaugurated by the Mahanagar Express train moved towards Chittagong.

Director General of Railways Department Dhirendranath Majumdar presided over the ceremony, other guests were MP of Comilla-5 Abul Hashem, Railway Secretary Selim Reza, Chief Engineer of Railways Subakta Gin, Chief Engineer of Max Golam Ahmed and Minister's wife Shammi Akter.

The Minister further said that development of communication system does not mean development of roads only. Development of communication system means development of integrated communication system. The government has focused on the development of an integrated development system. The need for meter gauge trains is declining now a days. So the railways across the country will be converted to dual gauge line.

He also said that work is ongoing of the dual gauge line from Dohazari to Cox's Bazar. Dual gauge will also be constructed from Chittagong to Dohazari. Railways have been undergoing extensive development since the formation of the Ministry of Railways in 2011. There is a railway line in Padma bridge, there is a railway line in Bangabandhu bridge, Khulna - Mongla railway line has been built, there will be a railway line on Bhanga - Mawa bridge, the work of metro rail is ongoing fast. Work on the 72 km double line dual gauge from Akhaura to Laksam will be completed by June 2023. The Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate it.

The railway is upgrading the 82 km long railway line from Akhaura to Laksam in Comilla zone to dual gauge double line at a cost of BDT 6,505 crore. Of which work of 24 km from Comilla to Laksam junction of the district has been completed. It was opened to traffic through the inauguration on 25 September 2021. Construction work of the remaining 48 km is underway. Which has been planned to be completed by June 2023.

Coxsbazar Airport will have the Longest and Most Beautiful Runway in Bangladesh

Giant Airplanes will land near the sea beach and will fly the same way. Cox's Bazar will be the busiest city in terms of day and night flights. This is no longer a dream, soon it will be a reality. The Coxsbazar Airport will be a world class airport in Bangladesh. For the first time, a runway is going to be built over the water with the help of most modern and sophisticated technologies. Work on ecotourism and railways including exclusive tourist zones are going on here. 

The ground-breaking of the construction of the runway in the sea water in Cox's Bazar took place on 29 August, 2021. Inaugurating the expansion work in the morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the government has different plans for development of Coxsbazar. Cox's Bazar will be arranged in the style of Singapore, Bangkok. Bangladesh took another step forward in development through ground-breaking of seawater runway construction. Cox's Bazar Airport is getting the final outline by putting an end to all speculations. Will take shape from national to international.

Coxsbazar Airport runway construction style is the first in this region by penetrating the sea water. Such type of runways is not available all over the world. The Cox's Bazar Airport Runway project will be longer than runways in Maldives, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Singapore etc. It will be one of the most scenic airports in the world. This will be the longest runway in the country. There will be 1,300 feet inside the sea. Giant aircraft like Airbus A-380 will be able to land in Cox's Bazar Airport through the blue water of the sea. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is trying to build an airport similar to other countries in the world. The Prime Minister himself has said that this airport will be developed as a regional hub. The runway will be built by creating special blocks inside the sea. Besides, there are plans to have small cottages around the runway. There are even plans to have a re-fueling station. Besides, international Star quality hotels and motels will also be built in the vicinity of the airport.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Mahbub Ali said that all natural facilities are being taken up in the master plan of the airport as a tourist city. The state-of-the-art architecture will include Cable-Car, Sea Museum, Blue Zone, Red Park, and Parachuting High Park etc. There will be world class top events for entertainment. Several foreign companies have already offered to invest here. He said the international airport is being set up mainly so that domestic and foreign tourists can come to Coxsbazar by direct flights. For good reason, construction of a new terminal building at the airport, expansion of runways and increase in power, installation of airfield ground lighting system and other works are going to start soon.

The project is targeted to be completed within the next 33 months. The expansion and modernization of the runway at Cox's Bazar Airport has started mainly based on the interest of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The length of the runway has already been increased from 6,775 feet to 9,000 feet and the width from 120 feet to 200 feet. The Prime Minister inaugurated Biman's Boeing 737 take-off and landing on the expanded runway in 2017. At the same time, he directed to upgrade the runway of the airport from 9,000 feet to 12,000 feet. Under his direction, the 'Cox's Bazar Airport Runway Expansion' project was undertaken between January 2019 and December 2021.

In addition, Precision Approach Cat-1 lighting system will be installed. As a result, the aircraft will be able to take off and land at full load. Due to which the number of flights at the airport as well as the passenger transport capacity will increase. Cox's Bazar Airport currently has a runway of 9,000 feet. Work began to raise it to 10,700 feet. Of this, 1,300 feet will be in the sea. The runway is being expanded through the acquisition of land towards the Maheshkhali Channel at Cox's Bazar Airport. The project has stumbled repeatedly despite being such a priority.

On December 2020, the China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) was approved as a contractor by the government's Cabinet Committee on Procurement. If the project is implemented, new generation aircraft like Boeing-777-300ER, 747-400 and Airbus A-380 will be able to take off and land easily. The estimated cost of the project is BDT 1,568 Crore. The work is ongoing on the current Corona epidemic. Work is underway to fill the sea with sand near Maheshkhali and Sonadia islands. Construction Work of the terminal building inside the airport is also nearing completion. The infrastructure and welding work of the terminal building has already been completed. Finishing work will start soon.

On February 9 this year, an agreement was signed between China's Changjiang Ichang Water Engineering Bureau (CYWCB) and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation JV as the lowest bidder at Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh headquarters. The two companies offer at least 21 percent less than the estimated cost of the Civil Aviation Authority. As a result huge amount of money will be saved. The two Chinese companies, which have received construction permits, have experience building state-of-the-art airports, such as the Beijing Airport. The Coxsbazar Airport will also have all kinds of modern facilities, which will enliven all the tourists in the world.

Civil Aviation Authority officials say that when the construction of the runway is completed, the sea water will be on both sides of the aircraft when it lands or takes off. Cox's Bazar will be the fourth International Airport after Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet in Bangladesh. The runway at Dhaka Shahjalal International Airport is 10,500 feet. When the work of Cox's Bazar is completed, Dhaka will become the second largest runway. As far as the runway goes to the sea, dams will be built in the water using blocks, geo-tubes and other standard materials.

Officials said, “At first we wanted to see if the runway could be extended towards the city. Moreover, if it moves towards the city, many important installations will move towards the airport. Many would have suffered massive losses. However, the Prime Minister wanted to have a runway towards the sea, which would enhance its beauty”. The official further said that the runway will be towards Maheshkhali channel. Work has also started on a new terminal building at the airport. Besides, ground lighting system, central line light, precision approach lighting up to 900 meters under the sea, instrumental landing system, construction of safety wall and Connection Bridge over Banshkhali River will be installed. The flight will take off and land at Cox's Bazar after being transformed into an international airport and after discussions with various countries around the world.

Natural Gas in Bangladesh | Reserve for next 100 Years

Reserves of valuable minerals including Monazite, Zircon, Rutile, Calcium Carbonate, Phosphorus, Sulphate and Rare earth elements have been found in an area of around ​​3,100 Square Km at the bottom of the Bay of Bengal. In addition, a potential 100 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserve has been found at the bottom of the ocean, with which it is possible to meet the demand of Natural Gas in Bangladesh for the next 100 years.

At present, Reserve of Natural Gas in Bangladesh will be able to serve the country for next 14 years only. Researchers of our country think that in order to develop the Blue Economy of Bangladesh through efficient use of marine resources and the invented technology should be used at the field level. Natural gas in Bangladesh is one of the main resources for the overall development of the country.

This information was given recently by the speakers and researchers at a seminar titled 'Efficient Use and Challenges of Marine Resources for the Development of Blue Economy' organized at the auditorium of Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute (BORI) at Pechar Dwip, Cox's Bazar. Cox's Bazar Marine Fisheries and Technology Center Chief Scientific Officer Mr. Shafiqur Rahman presented the keynote address at the seminar.

Shafiqur Rahman said, ‘Bangladesh has the exclusive marine economic zone up to about 200 nautical miles in the sea, but on an average we are able to use only 30 nautical miles. In addition, commercial trawlers are not allowed to fish at depths below 40 meters, but they do not comply. Due to lack of fishing experience in the deep sea level, the fishermen of our country are fishing near the coastline. However, some fishermen are being brought from Sri Lanka for training purposes so that our fishermen can also bring fish from the deep sea.

Dr. Shafiq said, ‘Lots of Artemia are imported from abroad every year for use as pony food in hatcheries. But three decades ago, scientists of our country have successfully invented the technology to produce Artemia. Scientists of Bangladesh have invented many technologies in the past for the economic development for the people of this country. But that technology was not used at the field level. In order to develop Blue Economy of Bangladesh, it is not only necessary to innovate the technology, it is also necessary to use that technology at the practical level'.

A total of seven articles including research results of Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute for the financial year 2019-20 were presented in the seminar. At the seminar, Mohammad Zakaria, Senior Scientific Officer, Department of Geological Oceanography, Marine Research Institute, presented the results of a geological survey of rare mineral resources at the bottom of the Bay of Bengal. Valuable minerals including monazite, zircon, rutile, calcium carbonate, phosphorus, sulphate and rare earth elements have been found in an area of ​​3,100 sq km at the bottom of the Bay of Bengal. In addition, a potential 100 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserve for Bangladesh has been found at the bottom of the ocean, with which we will be able to meet our next 100 years of natural gas demand. At present, natural gas in Bangladesh has only 14 years of reserves.

During the seminar, Mr. Tariqul Islam, Scientific Officer, Department of Chemical Oceanography, Mr. Rupak Lodh and Mr. Shahinur Rahman, Scientific Officer, Department of Physical and Space Oceanography, Scientific Officer, Department of Environmental and Climate Research, Department of Oceanography Officers Mir Kashem and Sultan Al Nahyan and Tania Islam, Scientific Officer at the Oceanography Data Center, presented research papers on the potential of depleted food stocks.

Iti Rani Poddar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, was the chief guest at the seminar, which was chaired by Mr. Shafiqur Rahman, Director General, Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute. In addition, the director of the Atomic Energy Commission beach mineral sand extraction center took part in the discussion. Mohammad Masud Karim, Deputy Director of the Department of Environment Sheikh Nazmul Huda, Fisheries expert Palash Khandaker, Ecolife Manager Md. Abdul Qayyum, industrialist Omar Hasan, journalist Ahmad Gias and others.

Bangladesh currently has demand for 3.7 billion cubic feet natural gas per day (bcfd), whereas the gas supply is 2.7bcfd - a massive shortage of 1bcfd of natural gas every day. The reserve of Natural Gas in Bangladesh will be able to run the country for next 14 years. So the government should take proper decisions and steps to utilize the reserved 100 trillion cubic feet of natural gas found beneath the Bay of Bengal.

On the occasion of the golden jubilee of independence, the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibor Rahman, an exhibition of photographs of the archeological sites of Comilla region has been inaugurated on 25 March. The Deputy Commissioner of Cumilla, Mohammad Kamrul Hasan inaugurated the exhibition.

Speaking as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Kamrul Hasan said, “I have had the opportunity to work in the Department of Archeology. I have traveled to many countries. Comilla was once the capital of education. Shalban Bihar was built at that time. Comilla will be developed as a hub of tourism. Whatever cooperation is required, I will work in consultation with the Minister”.

The deputy commissioner further said, "I have made a proposal to the minister." Dr. Akhtar Hamid Khan's House, Rani's cottage will be set up as a city museum and Sachin Dev Varman's house as a memorial museum in the city. Tickets will be introduced in both.

Special guests on the occasion were Shawkat Osman, Deputy Director, Local Government, Comilla; Mohammad Sadequzzaman, Former Chairman, Department of Archeology, Comilla University. The ceremony was presided over by the Regional Director of the Department of Archeology, Chittagong and Sylhet, Md. Ataur Rahman. UNO of Sadar Dakshin Comilla Shubhashis Ghosh, Custodian of Mainamati Museum and Shalban Bihar Hasibul Hasan Sumi and others were present on the occasion.

Some Famous Historical Tourist Spots in Cumilla:

• They are a series of hillocks, where the Northern part is called Moinamoti and the Southern part is called Lalmai.

• Shalbon Bihar is in the Middle of Lalmai and Moinamoti, which was established in the 8th century by the King Buddadev.

• Kotila Mura situated on a flattened hillock, about 5 km north of Shalban Vihara inside the Comilla Cantonment is a picturesque Buddhist establishment.

• Charpatra Mura is an isolated small oblong shrine situated about 2.5 km north-west of kotila Mura stupas.

• There is also a Moinamoti museum where one can find the historical things found in Lalmai & Moinamoti of the 7th & 8th centuries.

• Shalbon Bihar was the royal palace for the early Buddhist Students. Students from various places come here for their Meditation and Religious learning. It’s such a quiet place inside a barren forest.

• About 2 km North of Shalbon Bihar there is another monastery called Ananda Vihara or Anondo Bihar.

Within recent ten years, several mega projects started working in Cox's Bazar district and finally special initiatives were taken to implement these projects as priority projects of the Government to present the Coxsbazar as a special economic zone and make an attractive tourist area of Bangladesh. The special aim of the present government about Cox's Bazar is to build hopes for the people of this area to be a special economic zone. Some ongoing mega projects of Coxs Bazar area are:

Recent progress reports of these projects have indicated that most of the projects are in the right direction.

Dohazari-Ramu to Cox's Bazar to Ghumudhum railway line: The project is being implemented at a cost of more than BDT 18 thousand crore with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) funding. The overall physical progress of the project is satisfactory. If the government-initiated projects for road connectivity are implemented, connectivity with different countries of South Asia will be increased. The project is expected to be completed by the year 2022.

Cox's Bazar International Airport Project: The project of upgrading Cox's Bazar existing Airport to an International Standard Airport was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on July, 2015. The existing runway of the airport will be increased from 6775 feet to 9000 feet. The cost of this project is more than BDT 11 thousand crore. Project development work is running in full progress. These include construction of shelter projects, construction of roads and bridges, and construction of BWDB's embankments etc.

Matarbari Coal Electricity Plant: The ultra-super-critical technology based coal-based power plant will be built on total 1,414 acres of land at Matarbari and Dhalghata Union of Maheshkhali. The expected project cost is more than BDT 35 thousand crore. The Japanese government will finance the project. The progress report said that other works are in line as per the work plan and the project is expected to be completed within 2023.

Sonadia deep sea port: At present no detail information is available about its progress. Japan's Pacific Consultant International (PCI) has completed a technical and economic study and survey to build a deep sea port in Sonadia Island, Coxsbazar. Although initially it was planned to be constructed on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis, it has now been decided to build on a government-to-government (G2G) basis. Other countries, including China, India and the United Kingdom, have shown initial interest about this project.

LNG Terminal at Maheshkhali: A Floating Storage and Registration Unit (FSRU) floated in the Bay of Bengal near Maheshkhali. The huge ship-cum-terminal was brought from Qatar by liquefied natural gas or LNG. It converts the liquid fuel into gas and sends it to Chattogram through a 90 km long pipeline. The floating terminal arrived in Maheshkhali on April 2018. The project is being implemented with built on operating and transfer method. In addition to the construction of LNG terminal, parallel pipeline construction of Maheshkhali-Anwara gas transmission pipeline, construction of Anwara-Fouzdarhat gas circulation pipeline and construction of Chittagong-Feni-Bakhrabad gas transmission pipeline are also involved.

Submarine base of the Navy in Pekua: To construct a submarine base the Bangladesh Navy has acquired around 333 acres of land in Magnama Mouja under Pekua upazila. An allotment of BDT 63 crore has already been made for land compensation and the land has been handed over to the prospecting company.

Ramu National Oceanic Research Institute: Under the Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology, 29.5 acres of land was provided in the Pechardip Mouja area in Ramu upazila for setting up the National Oceanic Research Institute. The project was inaugurated by the Prime Minister after completing construction work at a cost of more than BDT 80 crore. Currently the activities of the research institute are underway.

Sabrang Tourism Park of Teknaf (Special Economic Zone): With the permission of Land Ministry and acquisition of 1139 acres of land has already been handed over to BEZA (Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority). BEZA has completed the feasibility evaluation process. Currently, the BWDB, LGED, RHD and Rural Electrification Boards have adopted plans for development activities in the applicable field. The project was inaugurated by the Prime Minister through a video conference 2016.

Jaliardwip Exclusive Tourist Zone (Naf Tourism Park) of Teknaf: For the establishment of Jalliyar dwip Exclusive Tourist Zone, 271 acres of land at Jaliar deep in Naf River has been handed over to Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA). In addition, the Forest Department has approved 21.12 acres of land for use as road to Jaliaradwip Exclusive Tourist Zone (Naf Tourism Park). With the help of a German-based company, the project will develop a variety of entertainment mediums, including long cable cars, to entertain tourists.

Khurushkul shelter project: A special shelter project was undertaken on 253.35 acres of land at Khurushkul Mouza on the eastern side of the Bakkhali river to rehabilitate 4409 landless families living illegally on Government land on the west side of Cox's Bazar Airport. A Sheikh Hasina tower and 149 multi-storeyed buildings will be constructed for the rehabilitation.

The present government has a special focus on making Cox's Bazar a developed and perfect tourist city. Therefore, the current government is planning to implement various development projects in Cox's Bazar. In the last years, the government has approved 25 mega development projects in Cox's Bazar. Therefore, they need to be implemented at the right time.

Thus, the image of Bangladesh will be completely changed after 15 years if the development continuity is maintained. Business will be boosted and will create employment opportunity. At the same time, a large part of the national revenue will be acquired from Cox's Bazar.
